What would you suggest? Do you think there is something missing in the WWW?
I am a Software Engineer and would like to start a commercial web-site in the future. I want to start something with a free website like geocities etc.
I am interested to host some application where people can download it and use it for their purposes.
Can I have suggestions to the kind of applications I can develop. My intention is to gain some reputation and then slowly commercialize it in the far future.
Thanks in advance.

I found that using WebStarts was the easiest way to make a website. It has a unique drag and drop tool that is extremely
easy to use. Plus you can have up to 5 free websites with a free membership.
Here Is The Link

If you are serious about creating websites, don’t go for free webhosting as they are not reliable and you may end up losing all your work. They usually put ads on your websites and it could be annoying.
If you intend to create more than 1 website, go for multiple web hosting where you could handle your websites in one account.
Visit Following webhosting which is quite good.

They offer hosting of "unlimited domains" and you will get massive webspace of 200000 MB (200 GB ). They only charge $4.95/month and they offer "a free Domain Name" and installing service called "Fantastico". By using Fantastico, you could create own forum, photo gallery, shopping cart (e-commerce),your own auction site and your own blogs within few seconds. They also offer "Free Website Builder" as well.
Visit the site to check details.
