So I just order an unmanaged VPS hosting. I would to install GNOME and VNC on the server I order since I need to run a game server on it.

The server OS is Ubuntu and the distro is fredora. Where and how do I start installing both of these softwares on the server I order? I tried google but it I’m lost.

I am a database/web programmer, I can create database driven applications from a-z using sql server and visual studio .net at my work place. Now I would like to create a database driven application for my family and my friends, I cannot use the web server and sql server at my work place, what do I need to do to accomplish this work? is there company who does web server/sql server hosting that I can rent or something like that.
