Hello,

We have a Microsoft Windows 2000 Server environment with approximately 8 Windows 2000 servers and 80 workstations.

We are not running Active Directory or any domain based policies. Its a simple network really. We currently use Outlook 2003 with POP3 email that is hosted by our ISP.

We want to deploy Microsoft Exchange server so that Outlook 2003 can use more advanced features like calendaring, etc. We need to also have Outlook Web Access.

Do we need to convert to active directory, or can I do this without having to convert right now?

I set the website up using webs.com and they are telling me that they use ns1 and ns1, but this is not what I need according to the server list on the digital certificate website. I am not sure if they are needing my personal server software or the software used by my website host. Here are the servers they list on the digital certificate site -

I’ve looked up the server info, but all that is listed is ns1.webs.com and ns2.webs.com. I need the name of the software used….I guess.

I have an assignment to make a project for capacity of handling over 200,000 visits per day. Its an e-commerce project built on .net technology, SQL server and ofcourse windows latest servers.

I need to back up 3 NT 4.0 servers over a LAN, and one of them has SQL Server 7.0 installed. I need to find backup software that is SQL Server aware, and can run on an XP workstation that hosts USB 2.0 backup disks.

I am wanting to start a business to make some money, but can’t really think of what to do. I was thinking maybe web hosting, but I am wanting some other ideas also please. I have a strong computer background, know PHP decently, apache/mysql ETC, I will end up hosting anything myself on my own servers. But the main issue is I just don’t know what to do. I was thinking also maybe resell products from wholesalers but the profit margins don’t seem that great after reading up on it, unless you work with chinese wholesalers, but too many of them are scammers and selling counterfiet products. Maybe services I could offer? Products I could sell? Any way I could realistically make money with a website? everything I see seems to be a scam, wanting me to pay money for some crappy E-book, or unrealistic (make riches running a blog, yeah right lol I am not stupid).

I am not sure what would my connection string be like on my asp.net website:

These are the information that I can get from my server host:

(I am using MS SQL Server)

Server info:

Host Name: mssql123.websitename.com (or the IP address)

Server Login: login_DB
Server Password: xxxxx

My empty database in server:

DB name: ar_cub
DB login: ar_DB (no password provided)

Now I need to create my connection string to be able to connect to my database.

I assume it should be something like:

mConnection = new SqlConnection("Server=’mssql123.websitename.com’;Database=ar_cub;Trusted_Connection=True;Integrated Security=SSPI");

Or maybe I should put my db’s username/password as well as the servers username/password? How?

I need a free webhost that supports image maps…i.e. one that has the Apache mod_imap module installed. I’ve been Googling the last couple of days, but none of the free web hosts I found allow image maps! I want an image map, so I can have a cool forums sig, which will have different links in different parts of the pic.

Thanks Ron, but actually, I am not referring to HTML in this case. I am actually trying to use BBCode, and to do so, I have to have a .map file which contains the coordinates of the image I am trying to create an image map of. All free web hosts that I have found so far allow uploading of this .map file, but do not have the "Apache mod_imap module" installed on their servers. You can Google that term to see what I’m talking about. Consequently, though I can link to both the image file, and map file, the script will NOT work because that module is not installed.

Actually…nevermind Googling it.

So all I need is a free web host that has that module installed on their servers.
I tried 000webhost, but they don’t have the Apache mod_imap module installed on their servers…or at least responded negatively when I asked for support, telling me basically that they don’t offer any help for creating scripts…and that was after I CLEARLY told them that all I needed was the direct URL to an uploaded .map file, stupid people. So no, that free web host sucks too.

I am looking to build a website. I am definitely a learn as I go kind of person but do need a little help here and there. I am looking for a server that will allow me to have a forum and a user log in for vistors to be able to post pictures, comments, stories etc. Do all servers have this standard? So I have been trying to find a decent web host, that offers

and the ability of not having to transfer my domain to them, all I really want is a web host with those, that I can take my domain, and point my name servers to. But everything I have found either is missing what I need, or is 80+ dollars yearly, and if I had a huge website that would be fine, but I really make no money off the site, so If anyone has any good hosts, I look forewad to hearing about them!

I’ve searched Yahoo re: web hosting, all I can find are links to Yahoo Small Business. I’m not running a business, I only want to host a few web pages and be able to share photos (via linking) on various servers.

My experience with Yahoo’s Geocities is that it doesn’t allow remote linking. Can I migrate the web pages I have on Earthlink (my old ISP) to my att.net or Yahoo accounts? Is there some other Yahoo service that allows some free hosting space, enough to construct a few pages and that allows remote linking?
