After i upload my indx.htm to httpdocs to my web host the only thing i get is the apache server test page. how can i make this work? Hel please!

I use Windows-XP(professional) with broadband internet connection. For downloading and using PHP/MySQL on my PC, I wish to know whether my server is a Personal Web Server or not and whether I have a local host or not. If it is not, then I’ll have to download the Apache server. How should I decide upon it?

I recently switched hosting providers and also switched from an Apache server to a IIS server in order to fulfill some needs in having ASP.NET applications being run on my server. However, IIS does not support .htaccess files natively, and my hosting company does not support ISAPI-Rewrite.

I have the following .htaccess file that I need to have switched over in order for a portion of my website to work as intended:

RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule .* index.php [L,QSA]

Again, I am new to web.config files, although I have a decent understanding of .htaccess files. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
IIS 7 can run PHP applications. I have the majority of my site being run under a PHP framework, but had to have some ASP.NET programming incorporated for school. I don’t normally run ASP.NET applications, so I don’t really know much about it. I do know you can run CakePHP on an IIS 7 server just fine if you have the web.config file written correctly, or you use ISAPI-Rewrite.

We have an apache server running a basic html web site for our design office.
I have been tasked with finding an idiot proof way to get our consultants and clients FTP access.
I want to make it so that there’s a link on our web-page that takes the user to a browser based FTP function so that the un-tech savvy can securely upload and download files for coordination on our projects without having to use such esoteric software as an FTP client (sarcasm emoticon).
Thus far I have been able to run our web-server with a minimum of overhead, so I don’t want to have to go buying exchange server or some such thing, I just wanna plug in for apache (maybe even with a GUI).

I have recently set up an apache server with php and a sql server. I did this because I was bored and it kept me occupied. Now it’s set up and i got nothing to do. What can we start with a sql server ? For example an image hosting site, music hosting site, etc.

i made the web site on publisher and uploaded it to my host or domain but on the first page it wont display any images and it wont go to the next page it just say’s…Error occurred: 404 - not found and Apache Server at: d1058947.domain.com what can i do to get this running right?

I have a PIX 515 firewall. One of the computers behind it needs to be able to host a web site for a internet mapping system. What I need to know is what specific settings I need to change in the firewall configuration in order for the system in question to be able to host said site. they have the apache server setup correctly according to the company that is supporting the software that they are using so the problem has to be with the PIX not being configured correctly. Any help is appreciated.

Im using Apache server version 2.0.59 on XP home sp2 to host my music. Is there a way I can change from quicktime to another media player when listing to the music. If so can you refer me to a link that might help me along the way. Thanks for any and all help.

So far I have created an apache server and am hosting a website off of my own desktop at home using my cable dsl connection. I used dyndns to get a domain name. I dont like it because I have to have my computer on all the time or people cannot go to my personal website. I can’t leave it on 24/7 because that would cost me 15-20 bucks a month! I am looking for a web hosting site that will allow me to pick my own domain name or half of it at least, and be very cheap.
