What was the violation? No reason given.
Details of Violation: If you are using Apache to host your site just go to the logs section. If it’s shared hosting log into your site with ftp then cd ../logs and download the files there. If you are on a dedicated host it depends on where your apache conf file tells apache to put the logs. This is different on Linux, windoze, BSD, etc. Even under Linux it’s different depending on what distro. If you have control panel or plesk you can just log in and view your logs. I have a shell script I used to use that downloaded my logs dailly and put them into a DB sorted by which server and what kidn of page hit it was. There are also free log analyzers if you are using Apache as your web server and Linux as your home OS. If you are running a dedicated Linux host you can install these and view the results from windoze machines as web pages. Reading others post. Alexa is not going to be remotely accura
This is the part that was cut off. No reason given in the reason field.

They are only accurate to represent a small fraction of web users who adopt the toolbar and find it compatable with thier web browsing. I was rather disapointed.

I am setting up a web page on my home PC running windows xp pro and the built-in IIS server or apache http server. I have to use port 8080 (http alternate) as my ISP told me that they block port 80. I have the web server listening on 8080 and router setup for port forwarding to my PC on 8080 as well. Everyone can see my pages with no problem from the outside (Internet or WAN) but when I type in my web site address from the same computer (web server) I am unable to view my web site. The error I get is "cannot find server" "The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings."
I can get to my site if I use http://localhost:8080 but I want to be able to use my internet name… Thanks in advance..
I have tried adding several entries in my HOSTS file but none seems to work.
I am using DDNS with www.no-ip.com. I also have their system giving me a redirect to port 8080 so that noone has to enter the port number at the end of the internet name. It all works fine from the outside but nothing from the my actual PC (web server)..
If I connect my PC directly to my cable modem so that the IP address is assigned to my network card, it all works the way it should (LAN & WAN). Behind the router is when it does not work. I have also had the ISP remove the MAC address so that it can be assigned newly to my router or my PC nic but no difference.

I also would like to sell on e-bay and use a combination of dropshippers & items from storage unit sales, estate sales etc. I have the time and capital to get started & I recently attended a seminar (storesonline) that in my opinion was a scam. I could use advice esp. from someone whose been there and done it. larrylvnv@yahoo.com
Thank You in advance; Larry

Every Top 10 Hosting Plans list I see is different. So those don’t offer much help.

Bluehost I’ve never heard of but keeps emerging as one of the best.

I’m currently using godaddy which I REALLY DISLIKE. It’s tortuous. Everytime you buy a domain, you’re blasted with screens of more options to buy crap. I dislike godaddy hosting.

I have about 8 domains and a hosting package currently on godaddy so if I switched I’d need to be able to transfer those.

I REALLY like yahoo’s search engine and answers! area, etc. But I am not sure about there webhosting.

Would need

– ecommerce (i’m going to be selling audio products, documents, and possibly video products from the site. So auto-downloading of a purchased product is a must (I know ejunkie offers that but that’s too small scale).

–Site analytics!!! I MUST have site analytics!

– domain transfer ease

–quality cPanel installs

– low cost etc.

Thanks. Bluehost was the top of this one list, so I may check them out.

Bye Bye Bluehost.

Customer for years… raised my rate without warning. Restricted number of emails I could send. Requested an increase and got the run around. Was told to write to someone in particular and they never wrote back or responded to any calls. POOR customer service so switched. Must be nice to be making enough $$ to not care about service anymore.

I just received the mail from BLUEHOST.com >>> It has come to our attention that your site is using an excessive number of files stored on your BlueHost.Com account. What’s up with yahoo hosting? I’m interested in that.

I have a hobby & want to sell what I make on the net.

I would like a small website - to post pictures - descriptions
of things that I make - made or can make.

Can anyone recommend a free or low cost web hosting company
that doesn’t require a ton of techie know how?

Addition of ‘click’ adds for added $ in my pocket would be great as well.

Right now we’re using Network Solutions, and we’ve noticed that the email can be really slow and it takes a long time for messages to transfer. We also require remote MYSQL connections.
Right now I’ve got my eye on Hostgator & Justhost, they seem pretty good for the money. Anybody know how reliable the email is with these companies?

I am Anaesthetist by profession, working in royal hospital,Muscat. We are hosting the international conference in 2007.I have been given the job of making a web page & hosting it on the web. I have already made the page but dont know how to host it

Here’s the setup:

1) The web server is Apache 2.x on Ubuntu 8.10
2) The router is a U.S. Robotics 5461 (password protected)
3) Internet access is DSL through AT&T (dynamic IP)
4) The web hosting service is No-IP.com

I cannot seem to (find the correct information to) setup the computer as a web host. I know I am so close and yet so far. Here’s what I have been able to do thus far:

I believe I have been able to make the LAN IP address static via the "Network Configuration" (or "Network Connections") window in Ubuntu by editing "Wired" > "Auto eth0" > "IPv4 Settings" where I changed the "Method" to "Manual" and adding an "Address" with the desired IP for that computer, thus, hopefully making it static.

Anyhow, I have Apache installed, and when I go to "http://localhost/" it comes up with the test page. However, when I attempt to access the no-ip.com address, it get’s back to my router, undoubtedly, but it requests the router’s username and password. When I type this info in, instead of the test webpage, it displays the router’s firmware.

In an attempt to forward the port, I have added both a TCP and a UDP for "Port Forwarding" within the router’s firmware with a "LAN port range" of "80 to 80" and the "LAN IP address" with the static IP address that, previously, I had manually inputted. This did not take care of the matter.

What (else) do I need to do?

Thanks!

Hello & thank you in advance for your help!
I have a web site and I can still get to it but, I need to find out who’s hosting it for me. I had a system crash and lost my host information. I know I should of kept a hard copy!! But is there any way to find this info out from looking at the code of the web site or any other way?

Thank you!!
Keith

Anyone can recommend a reliable web hosting who can support the new ASP.NET MVC Framework? I’ve found some information about the MVC web hosting at

http://www.webhost4lifereview.com/aspnet-mvc-hosting

I’d like to know who is the most reliable & best?
Sincerely,

google webmaster tools states there are viruses or malware on pages that I have on the web, & I have tried to clean them up but the problem is that they are too many. so what do I do? do I have to contact the server adminstrator to do it for me? or is there an easier solution? & also, is it the server’s fault or mine??? sorry, I’m new with all of this.

How can all IT companies get away with billing customers in advance? When our company starts vendors relationships with companies such as Loews, Staples, ULINE, PG&E, AT&T, etc. we are billed monthly with a small setup fee. Could you imagine if your phone company asked for one year worth of fees up front before even considering you as a customer? When is an entrepreneur going to open up a real web hosting company that treats customers right with net 30 terms and helps them by reporting to D&B??? Another example of IT and Finance NOT getting along… Isn’t the goal to help the customer anyway???

Hi,

I would like to know the average cost of web designing & hosting. Im not very knowledgeable about either but would like to start a website similar to "myspace" where people can sign up for their own pages with pics. Im looking for something basic to start with, nothing fancy.

Im not trying to "get rich" I just want to have fun & mess with it. Any other info or costs I should know about?

Serious answers only please.

I realize it must depend on the content & media, but I am assuming a mid-range, travel commerce site. (so pics, videos, ecommerce etc.)
Thanks
