How do I find out which web host a site is using by entering their URL?
I need to find the web host of a certain domain name, so I can contact their host. I am checking the whois but I cannot seem to find the host of the domain.
So how do I find which web host the site is using just by entering the URL somewhere?

Who Is Hosting This is a tool that enables you to find out who is hosting any web site. Simply type in any domain name, and you’ll get a link to the company that’s hosting this particular domain. It’s that simple!

Hi Lux C,
whois mostly shows the registrar for the domain, not where it is hosted. whois does show you the the webhost’s dns servers (usually in the form of ns1.hostxxx.com, ns2.hostxxx.com)
I usually use the tools listed below to search agaist the domain name and the webhost’s dns servers.
Smaller webhosts are a bit difficult to pin down as they may resell somebody else’s hosting services. However, you should be able to figure out the data center or the major webhosts that host the web content.
http://netcraft.com : use Webserver Search
http://www.technicalinfo.net/tools/index.html : try Domain Dossier first
