A couple months back, my account on 110mb.com was suspended (apparently for no good reason; I was given no warning, notification or explanation). Accordingly, I would now like to find a new host for my personal site, and I’m wondering if anyone knows of any good ones. My site will mostly be for linking together places I go on the Internet and artistic things I have made and want to share, so that they can all be accessed from a single central location.

Things I absolutely need:
- Is free to use.
- Has reasonable storage and bandwidth.
- No intrusive forced advertisements (popups, noisy Flash ads, or anything which interferes with my own code).
- Allows uploading reasonably large files (at least several MB).
- Has reasonably fast loading speeds and reasonably low downtime.
- Allows scripts, including hit counters and game scripts.
- Allows minimally mature (PG-13) content both on-site and in links and embeds.
- Allows non-commercial derivative/fair use content.

Things I would also like to have:
- Has massive storage and bandwidth.
- No forced advertisements.
- No file size limit.
- Has a reasonably concise address scheme.

Things I totally don’t care about at all:
- Templates, pre-scripts, or setup wizards.
- Online WYSIWYG editors.
- Paid premium options.
- Allowing highly mature (X or NC-17) content.

So does anyone happen to know of a decent host that fits all these requirements?

Can I have suggestions to the kind of applications I can develop. My intention is to gain some reputation and then slowly commercialize it in the far future.

Thanks in advance.

My Overall Summary:
This article is discusses mainly about the security of a national ID card. Because, the fear of terrorism that is why they come up with this type of identification card. The author is against this idea because he think by doing this the people have to give up some of their personal privacy which will be vulnerable to these people.

—-> Can someone tell me how can this type of national ID card help America prevent from terrorism?

Threat of National ID

By: WILLIAM SAFIRE
Published: December 24, 2001

A device is now available to help pet owners find lost animals. It’s a little chip implanted under the skin in the back of the neck; any animal shelter can quickly scan lost dogs or cats and pick up the address of the worried owner.

That’s a good side of identification technology. There’s a bad side: fear of terrorism has placed Americans in danger of trading our ”right to be let alone” for the false sense of security of a national identification card.

All of us are willing to give up some of our personal privacy in return for greater safety. That’s why we gladly suffer the pat-downs and ”wanding” at airports, and show a local photo ID before boarding. Such precautions contribute to our peace of mind.

However, the fear of terror attack is being exploited by law enforcement sweeping for suspects as well as by commercial marketers seeking prospects. It has emboldened the zealots of intrusion to press for the holy grail of snoopery — a mandatory national ID.

Police unconcerned with the sanctity of an individual’s home have already developed heat sensors to let them look inside people’s houses. The federal ”Carnivore” surveillance system feeds on your meatiest e-mail. Think you can encrypt your way to privacy? The Justice Department is proud of its new ”Magic Lantern”: all attempts by computer owners to encode their messages can now be overwhelmed by an electronic bug the F.B.I. can plant on your keyboard to read every stroke.

But in the dreams of Big Brother and his cousin, Big Marketing, nothing can compare to forcing every person in the United States — under penalty of law — to carry what the totalitarians used to call ”papers.”

The plastic card would not merely show a photograph, signature and address, as driver’s licenses do. That’s only the beginning. In time, and with exquisite refinements, the card would contain not only a fingerprint, description of DNA and the details of your eye’s iris, but a host of other information about you.

Hospitals would say: How about a chip providing a complete medical history in case of emergencies? Merchants would add a chip for credit rating, bank accounts and product preferences, while divorced spouses would lobby for a rundown of net assets and yearly expenditures. Politicians would like to know voting records and political affiliation. Cops, of course, would insist on a record of arrests, speeding tickets, E-Z pass auto movements and links to suspicious Web sites and associates.

All this information and more is being collected already. With a national ID system, however, it can all be centered in a single dossier, even pressed on a single card — with a copy of that card in a national databank, supposedly confidential but available to any imaginative hacker.

What about us libertarian misfits who take the trouble to try to ”opt out”? We will not be able to travel, or buy on credit, or participate in tomorrow’s normal life. Soon enough, police as well as employers will consider those who resist full disclosure of their financial, academic, medical, religious, social and political affiliations to be suspect.

The universal use and likely abuse of the national ID — a discredit card — will trigger questions like: When did you begin subscribing to these publications and why were you visiting that spicy or seditious Web site? Why are you afraid to show us your papers on demand? Why are you paying cash? What do you have to hide?

Today’s diatribe will be scorned as alarmist by the same security-mongers who shrugged off our attorney general’s attempt to abolish habeas corpus (which libertarian protests and the Bush administration’s sober second thoughts seem to be aborting). But the lust to take advantage of the public’s fear of terrorist penetration by penetrating everyone’s private lives — this time including the lives of U.S. citizens protected by the Fourth Amendment — is gaining popularity.

Beware: It is not just an efficient little card to speed you though lines faster or to buy you sure-fire protection from suicide bombers. A national ID card would be a ticket to the loss of much of your personal freedom. Its size could then be reduced for implantation under the skin in the back of
(adding missing words from the last sentence in article:)

"9/11 Truth Movement", Pentagon Strike"-Video and Griffin hits Washington Post

On the second international "9/11 was an Inside Job" day, Carol Morello (WP) revealed the real identity of "W" aka Darren Williams, who created the worldwide popular "Pentagon Strike" flash video, reported about the 9/11 Truth Movement and mentioned David Ray Griffin as one of the successful 9/11 truth book authors:

"We discussed the theories," said Philip D. Zelikow, the commission’s executive director…you know government is not nearly competent enough to carry off elaborate theories

Conspiracy Theories Flourish on the Internet

WP-October 7

By Carol Morello
Washington Post Staff Writer
Thursday, October 7, 2004; Page B01

Working from his home office in a small town in England, Darren Williams spent four weeks this summer making a short but startling video that raises novel questions about the 2001 attack on the Pentagon.

The video, "9/11: Pentagon Strike," suggests that it was not American Airlines Flight 77 that slammed into the Pentagon, but a missile or a small plane.

With rock music as a backdrop, the video offers flashes of photographs taken shortly after impact, interspersed with witness accounts. The pictures seem incompatible with damage caused by a jumbo jet, and no one mentions seeing one. Red arrows point to unbroken windows in the burning building. Firefighters stand outside a perfectly round hole in a Pentagon wall where the Boeing 757 punched through; it is less than 20 feet in diameter…

Propelled by word of mouth, Internet search engines and e-mail, the video has been downloaded by millions of people around the world.

American history is rife with conspiracy theories. Extremists have fed rumors of secret plots by Masons, bankers, Catholics and Communists. But now urban legends have become cyberlegends, and suspicions speed their way globally not over months and weeks but within days and hours on the Web.

"The dissemination is almost immediate," said Doug Thomas, a University of Southern California communications professor who teaches classes on technology and subgroups. "It’s not just one Web site saying, ‘Hey, look at this.’ It’s 10,000 people sending e-mails to 10 friends, and then they send it on."

The Pentagon video could be a case study. Williams created a Web site for the video, www.pentagonstrike.co.uk. Then he e-mailed a copy to Laura Knight-Jadczyk, an American author living in France whose books include one on alien abduction. Williams, 31, a systems analyst, belongs to an online group hosted by Knight-Jadczyk that blends discussions of science, politics and the paranormal.

On Aug. 23, Knight-Jadczyk posted a link to the video on the group’s Web site, www.Cassiopaea.org. Within 36 hours, Williams’s site collapsed under the crush of tens of thousands of visitors. But there were others to fill the void.

In Texas, a former casino worker who downloaded the video began drawing almost 700,000 visitors a day to his libertarian site. In Louisiana, a young Navy specialist put the video on his personal Web page, usually visited by a few friends and relatives; suddenly, the site was inundated by more than 20,000 hits. In Alberta, traffic to a cabdriver’s site shot up more than sixfold after he supplied a link to the video.

Across thousands of sites, demand for the video was so great that some webmasters solicited donations to pay for the extra bandwidth.

"Pentagon Strike" is just the latest and flashiest example of a growing number of Web sites, books and videos contending that something other than a commercial airliner hit the Pentagon.

Most make their case through the selective use of photographs and eyewitness accounts reported during the confusion of the first hours after the attack. They say they don’t know what really happened to American Airlines Flight 77 and don’t offer other explanations. The doubters say they are just asking questions that have not been answered satisfactorily.

The ready and growing audience for conspiracy theories about the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks has been particularly galling to those who worked on the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States, the bipartisan panel known as the 9/11 commission.

"We discussed the theories," said Philip D. Zelikow, the commission’s executive director. "When we wrote the report, we were also careful not to answer all the theories. It’s like playing Whack-A-Mole. You’re never going to whack them all. They satisfy a deep need in the people who create them. What we tried to do instead was to affirmatively tell what was true and tell it adding a lot of critical details that we knew would help dispel concerns."

… The belief that the government is lying about the Sept. 11 attacks is coming from both the right and the left. Experts say more than suspicion of the Bush administration is at work.

… David Ray Griffin considers himself an unlikely recruit to what is called the "9/11 Truth Movement." The retired theologian, who taught religion for three decades at Claremont School of Theology, initially dismissed the notion that it was not an airliner that hit the Pentagon. But after visiting several Internet sites raising questions about the attack, he ended up writing a book. "The New Pearl Harbor," published in the spring, argues that a Boeing 757 would have caused far more damage and left more wreckage strewn around the Pentagon.

"There are reasons why people doubt the official story," he said. "There are photographs taken, and there is no Boeing in sight."

Suspicions formed as the Pentagon still smoldered.

For 2 1/2 years, the attack on the Pentagon has been discussed and researched by members of Knight-Jadczyk’s online group, the Quantum Future School.

The group’s talks formed the basis for articles in which Knight-Jadczyk argues that after the attack on the World Trade Center, eyewitnesses at the Pentagon were predisposed to see a large airliner. She believes that the Pentagon was attacked by a smaller plane and that members of the Bush administration were somehow complicit because it was beneficial for war-profiteers and Israel.

Interviewed by telephone from what she said is a 17-bedroom castle outside Toulouse, where she lives with her Polish physicist husband and five children, Knight-Jadczyk acknowledged that her group is considered "fringe."

Knight-Jadczyk, 52, a Florida native, has been a psychic and a channeler. She is now involved in experiments in what she calls "superluminal communication," which she described as involving "time loops" that would enable people to communicate with their former selves.

Knight-Jadczyk said she never imagined anyone outside her group would ever view "Pentagon Strike."

"The fact everybody’s been sending it to his brother and his cousin, almost frenetically, reflects the fact that there is a deep unease," she said. "They don’t come out and say it. They don’t want to be accused of being with terrorists, anti-American or anti-patriotic. But they still feel something’s wrong."

Bret Dean of Fort Worth said he considers it "baloney" to question whether a plane hit the Pentagon. But he also believes that the government ignored warning of the attacks.

After posting a link to the video on his libertarian site, www.freedomunderground.org, Dean recorded more than 8 million hits. At least one came from inside the Defense Department, he said.

"I don’t think the video is an instigator," said Dean, 45, a former casino worker. "It’s a symptom. A lot of people don’t trust the government’s explanation because the government’s classified all the information."

Asked if there were unreleased photographs of the attack that would convince the doubters, Zelikow, of the 9/11 commission, said, "No."

"The question of whether American 77 hit the Pentagon is indisputable," Zelikow said. "One reason you tend to doubt conspiracy theories when you’ve worked in government is because you know government is not nearly competent enough to carry off elaborate theories. It’s a banal explanation, but imagine how efficient it would need to be."

For those wondering how Shawn Michaels got under the chamber at last night’s Elimination Chamber PPV, several fans who attended the show noted that while the viewers were watching the recap of the Raw Chamber match from earlier in the night, the lights went out in the arena and only the TitanTron was on. In the darkness, several crew members made their way to the ring and HBK was hidden amongst them. This is how Hornswoggle usually gets under the ring at events.

WWE has issued the following press release:

Slim Jim(R) Named Presenting Sponsor of Wrestlemania XXVI(R)

STAMFORD, Conn., Feb 22, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) — World Wrestling Entertainment(R) and Slim Jim(R) announced today an integrated promotional deal. As part of the deal, WWE Superstar Edge(R) will serve as a spokesperson for Slim Jim.

The one-year deal extends the relationship begun last year as part of the brand’s "Spicy Side" campaign and shows consumers what happens when their alter ego encounters the snap of the bold and spicy flavor of a Slim Jim. It will feature numerous promotional activities involving WWE’s television programming, WWE.com, live events and publications throughout the year.

On behalf of Slim Jim, Edge will be making personal appearances and hosting the "Live Like Edge" sweepstakes as well as "The Slim Jim Showdown," a mobile phone contest. I know how to do HTML coding, but I have a few questions before I try to publish a web site.

First, What is the "hosting" that i keep reading about on how-to internet sites?

Also, is there any way that I can create a website that belongs to ME (no commercial site tied to it) for absolutely no monetary exchange whatsoever?

*** F Y I — the site I intend to create will be an archive for unpublished stories of mine and of others. This means that there will have to be a membership/login/"my account" type thing. any ideas on how to do that?

links would be helpful, but I intend to give best answer to the person who explains it in great detail in his/her own words.

Thanks so much for you help!
also, help me come up with a creative name: my name is molly, it’s gonna be an archive of stories, and usually i can come up with creative names but this one just has me stumped. Help!
to sparkles: I already have that.
Guys: I WANT A MULTI-PAGE WEBSITE WHERE IT LINKS TO OTHER PAGES AND HAS A LOG-IN AND EVERYTHING!!!

How can one design a commercial websites like amazon.com?
If you give detailed and explained ansewers like when and how to use html ,css, php, mysql and javascript. and how to begin? how to get domain name? how to host file or web? how to introduce credit card system there? what is paypal. ? how can i register it as company? how much capital do i need?what kind of servers do i need? is there any website or company ,book or consultancy for above matters? i am even ready to pay to such people or consultancy, if i get all the satisfying answers.Otherwise also it will regarded as you high qaulity of yor knowledge in computer field and commercial website field. if you like ,you can contact me at raul_grg_26@yahoo.com.hope there are many experts in this area. my question is an open question that may help others also.its not necessary that you answer a whole.you can answer the part of question for example dependcy of server for the website. is i i would be happy to appreciate your efforts an

I need to create a web site, but I have very little web design experience. It is for a government program, so it can NOT be done through hosting sites that provide user-friendly tools.

I need a way to quickly create a website, but which can offer the following aspects:

~users need to search 100-150 pdf documents (research summaries) available on the website (can not use google or yahoo search, must be non-commercial). It would be best if this could be done like an advanced search engine or even online catalogue with several categories (author/researcher, date, insitution, topic, etc)

~calendar with email reminders to those who sign up (but we can not use a commercial prodcut like yahoo or google calendars)

~slides shows of photos, possibly sorted by project / person / year (similar to pdfs)

I don’t have the time to get up to speed with the graphics aspect required to make a Dreamweaver website look professional. Would InDesign work?

I live in Pennsylvania. I run a small business which does web development, design, hosting, and other services. I operate from my home right now but really want to build my own small office building so that I can get my staff in there and have a physical place to meet with high profile clients and run our servers, as I think this investment would be cheaper than renting in the long run, and would be more personalized for our company.

I own a 3 acre lot of land, residential zoned (but most likely would have little conflict getting it commercial zoned as there are many other buildings in the neighborhood like eye doctor offices, convenience stores, etc.)

I was looking and was shocked by how cheap steel building structures are. On eBay for around ,000-,000 I can find a decent sized structured kit to start with, or I could have a steel company do me a custom one which may cost more.

My land is almost perfectly level and flat. How much would you estimate it would cost to build a foundation and insulate a 40×50 foot steel building? - The cheapest yet effective way.

Once that’s taken care of, the inside would be no problem. I’d just dry wall and divide it, add tiled ceilings, laminate floors, etc.

I really just want a reception area (maybe 150sqft), a half bath (75sqft), break room (150sqft), executive office(280sqft), small 6 seat conference room (200sqft), consultation room (150sqft), storage/heating,etc. room (100sqft), and general work area for workstations (The remaining 850 or so sqft left).

At the most minimal cost, how much would you estimate (excluding labor) that it would cost to build the foundation and insulation, as well as a ball park of the overall project.

I appreciate it.
Also, I would imagine the building would be about 15 ft tall. If that helps!
If I were to overlay steel roofing with shingled roofing, and/or used noise reduction commercial fiberglass ceiling tiles, do you think the noise level from rain would no longer be a concern?

I would be greatly obliged to you if you can send me some free and comprehensive source of information to develop a website. I need to develop the site for non-commercial purpose. Infact as a hobby. I also want to know if I can use my own computer (having static ip address) as a host to my web-site.
Thanks for your time.
