i just don’t understand how to set up apay-pall account with my own website. Here are some questions i need answers to.:

1. whatweb-hostt is the best to start a clothing site
2. How do i set up a pay-pal account with my clothing site
3. how can i get good website traffic
4. genral tips to running a website.

OK,Here is the scenario, and its kinda BAD:
Ok so I have a web site (xyz.ca) the DNS for this site is DNS1 and the Web-Hosting for this site is WEB1. So WEB1 is costing me to much for them to Web-Host my site so I switch to WEB2, because they are cheeper. So I sign up for WEB2 and I send the sites DNS1 the new server information and ask for them to update my site. I also make changes myself on my DNS admin site and change the name servers to WEB2 server information(ns1.web2.ca and ns2.web2.ca)
OK COOL. So I receive an email from WEB2 stating that my domain is up and ready and now its time for me up upload my website files( the files that make up my site). But OPPS I forgot to back up my files from my old Web-Hosting provider(WEB1)!!! I dont have a hard copy o my desktop, because I never got a copy of the site from the person who made it for me.
So now when i go to my site (xyz.ca) it says "This Site Is Under Construction". I dont know what to do… Can anyone pls let me know waht I can do???!!? I have tried email my old Web-Hosting provider but they have not gotten back to me, and I have tried emailing my DNS and they have replied, basically saying that they do not hav any files on there server and I need to back them up off my old server!!..
Again pls help!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the quick reply. I have tried to contact both my DNS1 and WEB1 and no luck with getting in contact with a human. As for changing the name servers back, I did , well I could only add one. Ill explain, from WEB1 I had two server names listed in my name servers section of my DNS. ns1.web1.ca and ns2.web1.ca, when I tried to add them back they system rejects ns2.web1.ca but accepted ns1.web1.ca. Said it was some registry error. I hope it works with just ns1.web1.ca. Im not sure if it needs both to work )))This is the message that I get when I try to add ns2.web2.ca back to my name server list.It only accepts ns1.web2.ca.(((

I made some changes to php.ini, and I apparently need to restart Apache. I don’t know how to do this. I’ve searched the web, and every article assumes you are the host and you can access the server directly. How do I do this remotely with a goDaddy account?

I’m thinking about installing Webmin on a VPS (or two)
One already has Directadmin and the other has Kloxo/lxAdmin.
Why?
The Linux learning curve is not easy; Some things I have been able to do on one VPS and not the other. Adding Webmin might help, but I don’t have 30 hours to waste if things go wrong.

In general, Can I run more than one Control panel on a linux VPS?

Its a small business so i don’t need anything extravagant or anything that will not be worth the cost. I check out go daddy for the domain and they seemed reasonable but the web hosting was pretty expensive. Any suggestions?

Hello all. I do my own web hosting for a few personal websites I run. I’m upgrading my server and am thinking about switching to Linux and running Apache (I currently run Windows 2003, but have an upgrade to Windows Server 2008 through Dreamspark). Since both Linux and Windows server 2008 are free to me, there is no benefit to Linux other than it will be a little more secure and less vulnerable (yes it is legit because Microsoft gives free software to students through Dreamspark). The only thing is that Apache doesn’t have a GUI and I’d like to use a GUI interface. Also, I’d like to host numerous websites with the one server (IIS does this without a problem, not sure about Linux though). Any thoughts or input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!

Is it possible to host my own web hosting site over dial up internet. Please do remember every time I connect(dial) internet I get a new IP address and it is not dedicated IP. My local address(shown in network icon) is in range 10.x.x.x but my gateway IP(shown in who.is) is in range 119.x.x.x . I use apache as web server.

Can I run Apache Web Server in Standby or hibernation? If not, is there anyway I could run the server without leaving my computer on all day? Like is there some low power mode I can set for my computer, that apache will still run on? Im hosting a website, and I dont want to spend to much energy hosting it.
Wait, I tried running apache in hibnernation, and it didnt work. And what do you mean by using more computer resources? as long as it doesnt take up jmore power, im good.

I have windows XP serv pack2, installed Apache, put my index.html page in the appropraite directory, and when I go to http://localhost, or 127.0.01, or even my IP address (192.x.yz.) I can see the page, so I am thinking the apache is fine.

Problem: It can’t be seen from outside world.
I went to windows firewall and created an exception manually (to open port 80), and also on advanced tab, I chose my local area network and went to setting and clicked the HTTP server too, but still no luck:(
I know there is a whole different discussion about static or Dynamic IP, but at this point I am not even concerned about the NAME of the website, just as long as it can be seen even by putting the IP address in (my own IP is 192.x.y.z)

By the way, I have only one computer (I use clickwire modem, and there is only one computer that I connect to this modem).
